How CSA Solves It

The mechanism behind shrinkage compensation and fast load transfer in CSA-based non-shrink grout.

In non-shrink grout, loss of bearing contact under base plates comes mainly from drying shrinkage. CSA chemistry addresses this directly: the calcium sulfoaluminate (ye’elimite) phase reacts with calcium sulfate and water to form ettringite, which produces controlled early expansion. This expansion compensates drying shrinkage so the grout keeps full contact under base plates, anchors and steel columns. The same rapid ettringite formation develops high early strength for faster load transfer, while controlled water demand limits bleeding and segregation.

  • Shrinkage compensation: CSA Expansive Agent 6-8% of cementitious (post-poured strips up to 9-10%)
  • Fast-set grout binder: CSA Binder 10-15% in the OPC blend
  • Water / binder ratio: typically 0.30-0.40 for flowable, low-bleed grout
